Green Shoots Recruitment Ltd is looking for a Head of Front End Development for a growing team in a successful digital design agency. They have an impressive client base including well known household brands.

 As the Head of Front End Development you will be responsible for bringing their digital experiences to life, everything from basic landing pages right through to huge international e-commerce solutions. Along with outstanding technical capability, you will have a wider commercial awareness, also being a great communicator who’s at home at the helm of the Front End department.

Role and responsibilities

• Build of industry-leading websites and digital experiences.

• Creating sites into HTML from designs and setting them up within Craft /Expression Engine

• Front-end Innovation, Keeping up to date with latest developments in the industry and applying this to client work. Constantly looking for better ways to do things.

• Championing Front-end process across the team, ensuring coding standards and best practices are followed

• Ensuring all development work is fully tested before client review.

• Client facing to develop and present projects.

• Liaising with the management team to give progress updates and escalating any issues.

• Managing other front-end resources to ensure the team is hitting wider client deadlines.

• Create industry leading online experiences using various tools such as Sketch, Invision and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Managing team member personal development / issues / annual leave

• Taking the lead on departmental communications and managing weekly team updates. (including remote workers)

• Working closely with other heads of department to ensure wider deadlines are being met.

• Taking control of the design process.

• Liaising with the management team to give progress updates and escalating any issues.

• Managing other design resources to ensure the team is hitting wider client deadlines.

Skills and experience

• At least 8 years web development experience

• A great working knowledge of JavaScript, including jQuery framework such as react

• A great working knowledge of HTML, CSS & SASS

• Well versed in TWIG templating

• Experience in either Photoshop / Sketch

• Experienced in GIT and version control systems

• Experience with EE (Expression Engine) & Craft essential

• Strong team player who has the ability to use their initiative and self-manage.

• A passion for knowledge with a strong desire to learn and deploy new skills.

• Excellent organisational and presentation skills

• A meticulous eye for detail

• An appetite for diverse assignments and client challenges

• Great interpersonal skills

 Desirable experience

• PHP experience useful

• Experience with Magento/Magento 2 useful

• Experience with templating in Symfony useful

• Experience of using project management software and tools – (ASANA and or Trello desirable)

• Knowledge of SEO best practices and the importance of ensuring this is fully considered from the onset of a project.
